Allegany County: Fillmore And Houghton Were Badly Flooded

April 1, 2026

The No Unneccesary Travel Advisory and the State Of Emergency continue, in Allegany County. Fillmore and Houghton appear to have been hit hardest from the flooding. From Allegany County Chair Brooke Harris: “I’m sure some of your listeners have seen the images of downtown Houghton, under water,” Harris said. “We’ve got significant damage there. We are continuing to assess. State Route 19 is closed north of Houghton, so we are monitoring that. If you don’t need to travel, in northern Allegany County, please avoid doing that. If you do have to travel, make sure you are monitoring the route and know that it’s open. Don’t drive through roads with water on them. Watch for debris and just be safe.” Harris also says that Grove, Canaseraga and Swain have suffered some water damage. “Those areas were significantly impacted by the flooding. We do think that some of our bridges have been compromised,” Harris told WLEA News.
